Welcome to Dr. Schultz's home page.

Dr. Schultz passed away on 24th of August 2024, at the age of 93. Her husband Dr. Harold Seftel, died on December 3rd 2023. They are survived by their children Lisa, David, Colin and Mark, and their grandchildren Nompilo, Thuthuka and Aiden.

She was a retired medical practitioner whose passionate interest was community medicine. She worked for many years in ambulatory medical care in the public sector in underserved urban and rural areas in South Africa. She observed and experienced the impact of social, political and economic factors on the provision of and access to medical services, and on the health and well-being of the people of this country. The proposals, reports, documents, comments, protocols and guidelines on this site reflect this.

Because she was the mother of five children, she had little time to prepare material for publication. She was not formally attached to any academic institution. Additionally she was often harassed and restrained by bureaucracy. She always worked with patients and not at a desk. She therefore welcomed the opportunity provided by the internet to share her experience and ideas with others.

She was passionately opposed to the consumption of sugar, sodium chloride (salt) and processed foods.
